Based on the photos the Peugeot provided due to the Geneva Motor Show, we can see the concept of the new hot hatchback Peugeot 208 GTi.
This will be the come back of the small hatchback in the Peugeot family after years. The most rememberable and popular was the old classic Peugeot 205 GTi from the 80's, which had all the neccessary factors for enjoyment and with the new 208 GTi, Peugeot should win back that part of the market.
It will be powered by very familiar 1.6 turbochaged engine, called THP in PSA group, with 200 HP and around 275 Nm of torque. It will be matched with 6-speed manual gearbox, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is predicted around 7.0 seconds and 225 km/h of top speed.
As a tribute to the classic 205 GTi series, the 208 GTi also has GTi badge on the rear quarter pannel and on front grill. It has 18-inch alloy wheels as standard and red brake calipers on 302mm diameter discs at the front and 249mm at the back.
Sales of the normal 208 will begin in the UK in June of 2012 and GTi version is expected before the end of 2012.
