2011 - March Chop of the Month

And yes, it's that time of the month! Sorry for being a tad late, but better late than never, right?

How you guys been? Busy chopping, preparing for Easter, or taking care of homework, no matter what, you did an excelent job with the chops!

So, this time we got a new commer, someone from outside won, I'm talking about NTO, he did an awesome Streets chop and if the resolution was higher, was almost CS worthy, but that's a thing he can work on the future projects.

As for CarShow winner, or should I say winners, again, it's a 1st time for CoM, a team-chop. Gotta admit Sam and ATC did an awesome job, everything fits like a glove.

And here we are at Advanced CarShow, where we meet the everlasting battle, illu vs Sam. Yet again, Sam has proven his photo-realistic style and managed to blow illu's win.(think he's making a habit on winning CoM's).

Now, I wanted a bit of surprise, just to get out of bonds with this and this month, we've got a special prize, for ta2man, who put a lot of effort on his chops, face it, he's the most active user! So, I thought we should reward him .. somehow.

Enjoy the feature!

Streets Chopper - NTO

Q. What or who made you use Photoshop?
A. Im self taught and started learning about Photoshop after seeing virtually tuned cars in a SA performance magazine, the bug bit me then and i have been chopping ever since. 2. When did you start virtually modifying cars? Been chopping on and off for 6 years ago.

Q. When did you start virtually modifying cars?
A. Been chopping on and off for 6 years ago.

Q. Where do you get your inspiration from?
A. I h ave a love for cars, more so the looks. Im am part of a Ford club, the Figo was just recently launched in SA so i thought a sport/performance version would give that car some street credit.

Bonus question:

Q. What's your average time spent on a chop?
A. Up to 3 or 4 hours.

Q. When did you start virtual tuning?
A. I've been chopping since september 2007, originally I started out using gimp, but now its photoshop for all my work.

Q. What's your motivation for virtually tuning cars?
A. I like cars - lots. In fact, I want to become a car . Haha. Yeh, what more can I say, its a passion really, and I enjoy the satisfaction from thinking "hey - I did that".

Q. Do you use Photoshop for anything else, or you focus your skills for virtual tuning?
A. I use photoshop for all sorts. Just recently I've been using it for my product design course as a CAD tool, and producing some rather interesting renderings of my designs. It's great for everything really, from logo design to creating posters and leaflets, but naturally, chopping is the priority!

Bonus Question:

Q. In your virtual tuning career, what was the factor that helped you improve your skills?
A. Slowing down and taking time to study real cars and how light reflects off them - reflections really don't form the way you expect them, and neither do shadows, surfaces facing downwards on a car are in fact usually lighter than an area above them, not in shadow as they reflect the ground!!

Q. You really made a habit on winning here, does it feel boring?
A. No, not really. It's always nice to see people like your work! Although a bit more competition would be nice. There aren't a lot of ACS artists active at the moment...

Q. What do you think you need to improve to your style?
A. Probably the reflections and try more challenging perspectives. Most of the chops I make are a bit boring in my opinion just because of the plain perspective. But working on both, so we'll get there!

Q. You think we should add a little extra stuff on the CoM?
A. Can't think of anything right now. It's a nice way to end the month, or rather begin a month. And an easy way to keep track of the chops that have been posted and how the artists evolve over time!

Thanks for the awesome answers everybody, also thanks to all members who put their effort into posting their works and that voted.

Remember! Be proud of your work, give yourself the satisfaction that "you did that". Study real cars, see how lightning affects it, then reproduce them on your chop. Things that are supposed to be easy, get complicated, so better practice more!
